Holosun EPS Carry review: the enclosed carry dot

By the OpticVerdict Editorial Team.
Research-based review · Updated 2026-07-22

Our verdict: 4.3/5. The Holosun EPS Carry is one of the best compact enclosed red dots for concealed carry: a sealed-emitter micro on the Holosun K footprint, sized to sit slim and snag-free on a P365, Glock 43X or Shield Plus, with the lowest Holosun deck for co-witnessing standard irons. You get a 50,000 hour battery, Shake Awake, IPX-8 waterproofing and a choice of 2 or 6 MOA dot in red or green. The one real catch is the mounting hardware: the included screws often need swapping for the right length, especially on MOS-cut slides. Sort the screws and it is a superb little carry optic.

Owners rate it 4.8/5 across 88 verified reviews on OpticsPlanet. In stock at around $330 (red) or around $340 (green), plus a Holosun 10% coupon. Prices verified August 18, 2026; confirm the current price on the retailer page.

What it is

The Holosun EPS Carry is a compact, fully enclosed pistol red dot built for concealed carry. The enclosed emitter seals the LED behind glass, so dust, lint and moisture cannot settle on it and wash out the dot, and the flat front lens wipes clean easily, the main reason to choose it over an open micro like the Holosun 407K. It rides the Holosun K-series footprint, is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, and uses Holosun's lowest-height deck so it can co-witness standard-height irons on many micro pistols. Reticle options cover 2 or 6 MOA in red or green, and it runs a CR1620 for up to 50,000 hours with Shake Awake and last-setting recall.

Why owners like it: sealed, slim and tough

The EPS Carry earns its 4.8/5 owner average on carry fundamentals. Owners praise how low and tight it sits on micro slides like the Shield Plus and P365, slim enough not to snag on the draw, and they like the quick 6 MOA dot on presentation. The sealed lens makes cleaning trivial, the housing shrugs off abuse, and the dot holds zero: one owner reports dropping it and running about a thousand rounds with the zero intact. For a sub-$350 enclosed optic with a 50,000 hour battery, it is a lot of carry-ready hardware.

“So far this sight has been a game changer… The first one has been dropped and about a thousand rounds later still perfect. Pretty tough little unit.”

The honest catch: mounting screws and the smaller window

Two things keep this from a higher score. By far the most common complaint is the mounting hardware: the included screws are frequently too long or wrong for a given pistol, especially Glock 43X MOS, Sig P365 and Shield Plus setups. Owners report a tiny wobble and a lost zero from over-long screws, and in one case a screw failure that sent the optic flying inside 100 rounds with a cheap adapter plate. The fix is inexpensive, correct screws (about a $10 kit) or a quality plate, but you should budget for it. Second, the "Carry" trades window size for a slim profile, so a few owners note you must practice your presentation to find the dot quickly, and one preferred the open 407K for that reason; the EPS Carry MRS with its circle-dot reticle helps here.

“If you have OEM sights, be sure to order the longer mounting screws so you can eliminate the included base plate, or you'll have no possibility of co-witnessing the irons… Being an enclosed emitter optic, cleaning the windows is easy.”

On awards: the EPS Carry carries no standalone editorial award, and OpticsPlanet's "Best Rated Product" label is a store rating, not a trophy, so we claim none. Its credential is a strong owner record, 4.8/5 across 88 verified reviews, shown attributed rather than folded into a rating of our own.

FAQ

What pistols does the Holosun EPS Carry fit?

It uses the Holosun K-series footprint and is built for micro and subcompact carry pistols such as the Sig P365, P365 XL and XMacro, Glock 43X and 48, S&W Shield Plus and Springfield Hellcat. On a directly K-cut slide it mounts without a plate; on an MOS-cut or other slide you need the correct adapter plate. Its lowest-height Holosun deck lets it co-witness standard-height iron sights on many of these guns.

What is the catch with the EPS Carry mounting screws?

By far the most common owner complaint is the mounting hardware: the included screws are frequently too long or wrong for a specific pistol, especially on Glock 43X MOS, Sig P365 and Shield Plus setups, which can cause a wobble and a lost zero, and in one case a screw failure that launched the optic. The fix is cheap: order the correct-length screws (a kit runs about $10) or a quality adapter plate. The optic itself is well regarded; the friction is in the plate-and-screw ecosystem, worst on MOS-cut slides.

EPS Carry: 2 MOA or 6 MOA, red or green?

Pick a 6 MOA dot for the fastest close-range carry sight picture, or 2 MOA for a little more precision at distance. Choose green over red if you have astigmatism, as owners with astigmatism report a cleaner green dot; green models cost a bit more. If you want a switchable dot-or-circle reticle to find the dot faster in the smaller window, step up to the EPS Carry MRS (Multiple Reticle System) instead of the fixed-reticle model reviewed here.

Is an enclosed emitter worth it on a carry optic?

For daily concealed carry, yes for many shooters. An enclosed emitter seals the LED behind glass, so lint, dust and moisture cannot settle on the emitter and wash out the dot, and the flat front makes the lens easy to wipe clean, which is the EPS Carry’s main advantage over an open micro like the Holosun 407K. The trade-off is a slightly bulkier housing and a smaller window than some open dots; if you want the largest possible window and lightest unit, an open emitter is still an option.
